Redesign „Notice The Small Things“
A chapter on my website has received a small redesign. ‘Notice The Small Things’ was intended as a collection of rather incidental but nevertheless meaningful images from everyday life or traveling. Over time, this topic has become increasingly important to me and I am using the title as a starting point to give attention to these special perspectives and moments that seem superficial and not that important.
What should we pay attention to if we are going to be interested in the ‘little’ things? Are they objects, moments or places that we overlook or simply blend out? Yes, we blend out these things, which sounds funny because blending out sounds a lot like a term used in photography.
But it would be too naïve to assume that you can just go ahead and take photos of everything unimportant, irrelevant and uninteresting. In order to work as photography, the image must have an aesthetic form, it must tell a story in the long term and in the end contain a finding (in this case) about the value of the ‘little things’.
For me, things or moments are especially valuable that we all know and see, but often do not approach with the required care and time. In these things we find almost everything that makes up life or nature, just a little quieter, a little more hidden. This collection of photographs also includes the attempt to photograph time; transience or the flow of things are often overlooked categories in images.
